August 27, 2007.PUTIN APPOINTS AVTOVAZ HEAD ACTING GOVERNOR OF SAMARA REGION
 MOSCOW, August 27 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin has accepted the resignation of Samara Region Governor Konstantin Titov, appointing AvtoVAZ (RTS: AVAZ) CEO Vladimir Artyakov as acting governor, the Kremlin said Monday.
The president has also nominated Artyakov for the post of governor. The local legislature will vote on the nomination.
Titov, who has been the governor of the region since 1991, submitted his letter of resignation voluntarily.
AvtoVAZ, Russia's largest car producer, is based in Togliatti in the Samara Region.
