STATE DUMA DEPUTY TO BLAST INTO SPACEVladimir Gruzdev, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party, intends to make a voyage into space. This news was announced today by the speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament, Boris Gryzlov.
Mr. Gryzlov commented that United Russia could make significant contributions to space exploration. He praised the party for preparing the cosmonaut-researcher.
The Speaker added that Mr. Gruzdev had already passed all of the necessary medical tests, and that he was already training with a future crew for blastoff. Mr. Gryzlov confirmed that Mr. Gruzdev’s voyage would be financed by United Russia, calling it his party’s contribution to the space program.
According to unofficial sources, Mr. Gruzdev signed a contract with the Russian Space Agency in July for the sum of 20 million USD. Mr. Gryzlov actively petitioned this initiative.
